August 1, 2006 - Redner's Markets Turning Off The Lights To Conserve Electricity

Reading, Pa. - In an effort to reduce unnecessary use of electric, Redner's Markets has begun to implement several reductions to its store's usage of electricity.  The most noticeable measure to the consumer will be turning off a specific amount of lights in each Warehouse Market and Quick Shoppe.

During this period of excessive heat all Redner's Warehouse Markets and Quick Shoppes will be reducing the amount of lighting being used during the hours of 7 am through 8 pm.  This act is an energy conservation effort and stores will return to a normal lighted environment when temperatures begin to drop.  Each store will be turning off a series of overhead lights during the hottest portions of the day.  By turning off every third row of lights, in a standard 52,000 square foot warehouse market, Redner's will be able to save at least 576 kilowatts per day.

Such a reduction of energy consumption will not only cut back on energy costs, but also cool the store's interior and reduce the workload for the store's air conditioning unit.  Such savings measures will hopefully reduce the draw of electricity from the power grid and allow more to be used by the general public.  Consumers are urged to ask for assistance should they require any special assistance while shopping between 7 am - 8 pm.

Redner's Markets, Inc. currently operates 40 Warehouse Markets and 12 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland.  Redner's is committed to working within the community where each Warehouse Market and Quick Shoppe is located.  Redner's continually strives to provide the lowest prices, freshest product and the outstanding service our customers have come to expect over the past 36 years.
