We've done it! Redner's Markets has exceeded all expectations and raised
$81,692.00 for the United States Marine Corps Reserve (U.S.M.C.R.) Toys for Tots
program. This beat our original goal of $60,000 and beat last year's donation of
$27,822. This marked the 19th consecutive year Redner's Markets has partnered
with the U.S.M.C.R. and the Toys for Tots program. This year's $53,870 increase was due in large part to the implementation of a
new facet to Redner's program. This year Redner's introduced a paper, Toys for
Tots Choo Choo Train, which were hung throughout each Warehouse Market and Quick
Shoppe. Each time a customer would check-out, they would have the opportunity to
purchase a train for $1.00 and sign their name or small message to it. At any
time during the Christmas season, thousands of trains could be seen hanging
throughout each Redner's store. Cashiers throughout the company were also
involved in a competition to see whom could sell the most trains. The winner, Katheryn
Lamina (Doylestown, Pa.), sold 1,423 trains individually. Lamina
will receive a grand prize trip to Wildwood, N.J. for her exemplary efforts. The
trip was generously donated by White Star Travel Center of Reading. In addition to the donation of money raised through the sale of trains,
Redner's also collected $11,732.76 in loose change, $8,776.00 through the sale
of Entertainment books, and collected four tractor trailer loads of new toys for
donation to children this Christmas. Redner's also solicited $18,000.00 in
various money donations from outside suppliers, vendors and business partners. All of this could not have been accomplished without the continued and
tremendous support of our valued customers. It is through their donations and
efforts that Redner's was able to collect this record amount of money and toys
for donation to so many children this Christmas. Redner's Markets will continue
to look forward to such a valuable partnership, so that we can all make many
children smile when they have a present to open at future Christmas
celebrations.
