- During November and December a customer shopping in any of Redner's Warehouse Markets and Quick Shoppes would find it hard to miss the thousands of paper choo choo trains hanging around the front of the stores. During 2009, Redner's was able to collect $93,753 and over three, tractor-trailers full of new, unwrapped toys to be donated to the various Toys for Tots programs throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. A trademark to Redner's program is the paper Toys for Tots choo choo trains that customers can purchase for a $1 donation. Trains are displayed within the front of the stores throughout the holiday season bearing a personal message written by the customer. Highlighting the 2009 program was Redner's Warehouse Market in Levittown; collecting $9,505 through train sales alone. Associates located throughout Redner's trade area in both large and small stores made significant contributions with the top train salesperson coming from Redner's Fredericksburg (Lebanon County) Warehouse Market. Additionally, coin collection containers are placed at the checkouts within each store. Enthusiastic support from customers and associates continue to make this a successful program at Redner's for the past 28 years. "We know that this program brings smiles to the communities in which our stores are located," said Ryan Redner, chief operating officer. "To have been able to raise more than $93,000 and three trucks full of toys is exciting and a testament that our customers are always willing to help their neighbors in need." The key component of this program is to ensure and communicate to the customer that all money and toys collected within a store are donated to the local community. It has been an important part of the program's success to ensure that all the money and toys are returned to the customer's community through local Marine Corps Reserve Centers or the Marine Corps League. Toys are distributed for the immediate holiday but the money is donated at the conclusion of the program in January. Monies are donated after the program to ensure that each group begins the following year with a positive balance which they can use to purchase toys or other needed materials. Redner's Markets, Inc., an employee owned company, currently operates 38 Warehouse Markets and 13 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Redner's is committed to supporting the community in which each Warehouse Market and Quick Shoppe is located through a variety of supportive partnerships and enrichment programs. Redner's continually strives to provide the lowest prices, freshest product and the outstanding service our customers have come to expect for 40 years. ###
